Client Profile: The London Technology Fund

Who?
The London Technology Fund (LTF) was launched in June 2005.  LTF is focused on the funding gap for new, high growth technology companies based in Greater London. Initial investments are over a period of up to five years.

What do they do?
LTF invests alongside other investors and contributes a minimum of £50,000 - £1.5m in a single investment from its own resources and total investment (including co-investors) ranging from £100,000 to over £10m in a single investment.

To date, LTF has completed 15 investments in seven companies, acting as a key investor to help secure over £17m of funding for London-based high technology companies. These investments range from a seed-stage software company raising a total of £355,000, where LTF invested alongside business angels, to a company developing a vaccine for mutating viruses raising £4m, where LTF was the only UK venture capital fund alongside three specialist overseas life science institutional investors. LTF has also joined syndicates to help other investors close important funding rounds, including a £6m funding round for a biotechnology spin-out from a leading university.

Fox Williams and LTF
Fox Williams has advised LTF on a number of investments in high technology companies.

Fox Williams has also acted for LTF’s investee companies such as ApplianSys Limited. ApplianSys Limited is a UK developer of networking appliances which are designed to enable the easy management of Domain Name System servers.  Fox Williams advised ApplianSys Limited on both the initial investment provided by The Capital Fund No 1 LP, The Pan-London Technology Fund LP and five angel investors and on a second round of funding.
