Technology Agreements

If you are acquiring technology that will underpin your business or your website, it may be the most important investment that you make.  Similarly, if you supply or license technology as part of your business, the licence agreement will be crucial in protecting your valuable intellectual property and ensuring that you manage your legal risks sensibly.  
Despite this, businesses often use contracts that do not protect them adequately.  For example, where technology is being acquired, the client often signs the developer's standard terms of business without seeking advice. This contract is prepared by the developer for his benefit. Not surprisingly, it is likely to be rather one-sided.  If the development does not work out and advice is not sought, the legal options may well be limited and an expensive dispute can easily arise. 
The key therefore is to ensure that any contract you enter into gives you proper and reasonable protection.  This is something that we can help with. We can supply an appropriately drafted agreement that is suitable for your needs. Alternatively, we can work with the other party’s contract -- just because it is "standard form", this does not mean that the terms cannot be negotiated to your advantage.
